Empowering Children to Discover their Genius (ECDG) teaches children to be positive and proactive in their decisions.
ECDG encourages children to have or discover their vision, believe in that vision and that it will manifest itself when they believe and take inspired action.
This program will help you to support the children you are working with break down the barriers to their learning, discover who they are and what they want to become; what their hopes, dreams and desires are and begin to shift their mindset from an ‘I can’t’ attitude to an ‘I can’ attitude.
ECDG will open their minds to the possibilities as well as change their perceptions of themselves and their lives.
ECDG uses Six Steps to Empowered Thinking; a foundation program which identifies any potential barriers or hurdles to learning.
The program is designed to be followed over six steps and in sequence as follows:
Step 1: I can do it if I think I can
Step 2: Think of you goal – know the task
Step 3: Think of your plan
Step 4: Think of the consequences
Step 5: Think of how to monitor
Step 6: Think and reflect
Each step consists of a short video tutorial (3 – 8 minutes) and downloadable worksheets of activities to support their learning. Each session should last for approximately 60 minutes giving the child plenty of time to explore the learning taking place in that session and empower them to continue to strengthen their understanding in their own time between sessions.
You can access further resources that will support your child’s journey on our website www.theprimarylearningcentre.org
You may find that you can cover more than one step in a session with some children, whilst others may take 2 or 3 sessions before moving on. Please ensure that your children are fully confident with the step they are completing before moving on.
Step 1 is the biggest challenge as some children have a deep rooted belief that they are not capable of achieving anything. Your task as facilitator is to help them identify their successes, support them to develop their own strategies to build on their successes and enable them to optimise at their very best self.
It is highly recommended that a good amount of time is spent in Step 1 as this is the basis of all further action; believing that we can do anything that we set our mind too builds our self confidence and self esteem and provides incredible motivation to go forth and create what we want in our lives. Empowering children to believe in themselves, see their successes and build on them makes them stronger when faced with hurdles and more determined to find a way to overcome any barriers.
As the facilitator you are responsible for creating the learning environment both physically and mentally. Try and make your working space comfortable and visually inspiring where children can meditate and visualise when creating their lives in their minds. Encourage children to explore their imagination and never under estimate the power of positive praise and encouragement to further stimulate and inspire their thinking.
